Bridges & Barriers Begins New Project in North West Glasgow

Bridges & Barriers began it's new city wide project in North West Glasgow.

With the help of two local Active Schools Coordinators the North Kelvin Sports Development Group were able to create four school partnerships. Their first ever independant venue at Bellcraig Community Centre saw them hosting four schools in one with Caldercuilt, St Blanes, Parkview and St Marys all joining up their pupils. Benview Campus sessions saw St Cuthberts and Highpark coming together at their joint campus. The other sessions saw regular partners St Charles and Dunard linking up again, this time in the newly refurbished St Charles gym hall.

The new Project Officer happily reported back from Block One that some of the more well known sectarian words were not in the pupils' vocabulary, so the project must be having the desired affect in our local communities!

Block Two now sees new ground and new partnerships being created.  Fresh working relationships are being made with several Active Schools Coordinators in North East Glasgow to target nearby schools that will be working more closely together. Bankhead and Corpus Christi; St Rochs and Royston; Whiteinch and St Pauls; Golfhill and St Denis are all looking forward to the new project coming to them. Bridges & Barriers staff are also due to deliver lunchtime educational activities at their October Sports Camp at Benview Campus too.
